Ever since the move back to Los Angeles, I've (not surprisingly) been spending a lot more time in my car.  The backseat has turned into a little mobile office/dry goods store/wardrobe closet.  Up front, there are cups inside of cups inside of cupholders, lots of random junk, and ten CDs which I have been listening to OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

They're not even ten good CDs - just whatever happened to be in my car before I boxed up the rest of my stuff in San Francisco.  Love ya, Journey's Greatest Hits, but if I was taking ten records to a desert island, you wouldn't have made the cut.

Anyway, I had to make an emergency trip to the Best Buy near work so I wouldn't go insane.  Grabbed the first four things I thought looked interesting - I'm now the relieved owner of the new releases from Joss Stone, The Killers, Scissor Sisters, and Modest Mouse.

Also, I've burned myself a bunch of episodes of This American Life - sitting in bad traffic, I can sometimes get through an entire broadcast.  Perhaps it's because I've been listening to so much of the show recently, but I found this just-released parody (by comedy group Kasper Hauser) especially funny/spot-on.

Also, last week's news, but Current has a great interview with TAL's Ira Glass that, while shot a year ago, has just started getting a lot of attention.  He's talking about storytelling - it's a primer intended for those working in broadcast, but, honestly, anyone thinking of telling a story, uh, ever, would be well-served to check it out.
