I'm featured in E!'s new special "Byte Me: The 20 Hottest Women of the Web." As a commentator. Not as one of the women.

I pop up a few times in the program, which is mostly two hours of a camera zooming in and out on boobs. Sweeeet.
I guess I've technically been "researching" for this show since my family got AOL in junior high.

Brianiacs Tila Tequila, the Obama Girl, and the Olly Girls all make the list. The special airs 3/10 @ 8pm, 3/16 @ 5pm, 3/20 @ 8pm.

Last week, I got an armful of shots in preparation for my upcoming trip to India, so I've been feeling like a superhuman recently. Seriously, I dare you to try and give me typhoid right now. I am invincible.

Oh, yeah, btw, I'm going to INDIA. Which means I won't be updating the site for a while, which means... business as usual around here, I guess. I've been a crappy blogger. Sorry.

* New Haven/Joshua Tree

Took a quick trip to New Haven to meet up with some Knightons at my old stomping grounds. Took a quick trip to Joshua Tree to chill in the desert and witness the clearest night sky I've seen in SoCal.

* Friggin INDIA.

My friend Alex and I went to lunch one day with a pen, paper, and a ton of vacation days stored up. After an hour of brainstorming cool, feasible places that would be fun to visit, we settled on India. Will be whirlwind trip (mostly treking through the "Golden Triangle" area), but am really looking forward to it.

Excellent article on Wired.com about mountaintop removal - a coal-mining practice that is becoming increasingly frequent in my home state of West Virginia.

The article highlights the environmental damage the practice causes - the accompanying, powerful slide show highlights the aesthetic damage.

Outsourcing

Got a call @ the office yesterday from my credit card company, trying to upsell me on some stupid 'credit protector' service I don't need.

Pretty standard variety telemarketing - female with a thick indian accent reading a stilted, scripted pitch.

However, I could barely hear about the fabulous services that Chase bank was pleased to offer me due to the RIDICULOUS amount of noise in the background of the call - a cacophony of whooping cheers and screams.

I'd normally hang up, but I was curious - I asked the girl what on earth was going on. She pretended not to know, until I kept pressing - 'come on, it sounds like you're at a concert or a riot or something - what on earth is happening? Are you okay?'

Finally, embarrassed, she fessed up.

"I am sorry, sir. We are all watching cricket."

The King of Kong

I should be working right now, but instead I'm playing this Donkey Kong flash game. That damn monkey is relentless!

Anyway, it's giving me a new-found respect for the champions of "The King of Kong: A Fistfull of Quarters," one of the best movies of the summer. Official website here. Seems to only be in big cities for now, but, by all means, try to see it. So much fun, and, for a movie about trying to nab the high score in an ancient video game, it manages to speak to much larger social issues. That sounds ridiculous, I know, but seriously, go see it.

I've managed to catch a bunch of really solid documentaries recently - Nanking (about the Japanese invasion of the Chinese city in WWII), Hear and Now (a deaf 65 year old couple decides to get cochlear implants), the 11th Hour (Dicaprio's environmental doc), and No End in Sight (a chronicle of how [badly] things have gone in Iraq).

The clip comes from good ol' WSAZ News Channel 3, my hometown NBC affiliate. How bizzare that I am watching WV local news in Los Angeles.

Shake and Wake

Was just starting to drift off last night when a small earthquake shook the house. Since I'd just finished watching the Bourne Supremacy on DVD moments before, I first thought I was imagining more stuff blowing up. Reports this morning confirmed, though - a 4.5 in Chatsworth.

I suppose that's the trade-off with LA - always sunny and nice, but, occasionally, the ground goes insane.
